Fashion and fun to rake in funds for Avalon Home for the Disabled

"We hope to raise R100 000 which will go towards the residents' food and fix some of the buildings for the home."

Bez Valley residents Timothy Mwale and Terrence Mbeta want to make a difference for residents at Avalon Home for the Disabled

The two will host a fashion and fun day at Mandeville Sport Club on December 2.

“The aim of the event is to raise funds for Avalon Home. I first went to Avalon a month ago. I was touched by the work staff at Avalon do.

“I then realised and asked myself: If other people can do it, why can’t I also help where I possibly can? I decided to host the fashion and fun day to help the home,” said Mwale.

Mwale said the event will be in honour of the late Matthew Adams who was a resident at Avalon.

“Matthew was a very active resident. He was instrumental in getting funds for the home. We hope to raise R100 000 which will go towards the residents’ food and towards fixing some of the buildings,” he said.

Mwale said he moved to Bez Valley earlier this year and is looking forward to helping the community.

“Twenty models will be showcasing designer clothes, 10 artists will entertain residents and there will also be stands selling goods on the day,” he said.

Tickets are already being sold for R100 at Avalon home.

“They will also be sold at the gate on the day,” said Mwale.
