Edenvale CPF interim committee announced

The interim committee was established following a meeting with the Gauteng Provincial Community Police Board and the Edenvale Community Police Forum.

An interim committee for Edenvale Community Police Forum (ECPF) has been established.

The NEWS reported on October 31 that the acting provincial police commissioner for Gauteng Major General Napo had disbanded the Edenvale CPF, stating that the committee had become “dysfunctional due to a total breakdown of relations between elected members and the police”.

The ECPF has since issued a statement stating that the interim committee of eight members represents all four sectors in the Edenvale precinct.

The interim committee was established following a meeting with the Gauteng Provincial Community Police Board and the Edenvale Community Police Forum.

The mandate of the interim committee will be to oversee and effect the day-to-day business of the ECPF, establish sector crime forums and adopt sector constitutions in all four sectors within six months.

Once sector crime forums have been established, the interim committee will call for an elective annual general meeting to elect an executive committee.

This process should be finalised before the end of July 2018.

The interim committee members are Prince Mathebula, Clive Dawes, Grant Rebelo, Joanne Bezuidenhout, Mike Bell, Rita Johnson, Sheryl Damerell and Wayde de Reuck.

Mathebula will represent the ECPF at the Ekhuruleni North Cluster Board until the Edenvale CPF has been elected.

“During this transitional period, the Gauteng Provincial Community Police Board will be working closely with the interim committee and render assistance when needed,” the ECPF stated.
