Hannah Hope Foundation hosted the Women of Grace seminar at the Mandeville Sports Club in Bez Valley on October 21.

The aim of the event was to raise funds for a Christmas party for underprivileged children and homeless people.
Organiser of the event and founder of the Hannah Hope Foundation, Lorraine Benjamen, said the NGO would like to give back to those who are less fortunate.
“I don’t have any good childhood memories. I don’t want other children to go through the pain I went through. Growing up and begging for food on the streets was the worst pain I suffered in my life and I would like other people to have a better life,” she said.
Benjamen said attending Bible school taught her the spirit of giving.

“I went to Bible school so that I could make a difference to many lives.”
“I have met so many abused women, some of whom have no hope and want to commit suicide because of what they are going through. I then decided to organise this event to discuss all the issues women are facing. I want women to know they are not alone and that there is always someone who is willing to listen to their problems,” she said.
Benjamen said she became stronger because of all the hardships she encountered.
“I am a determined woman who would like to change other women’s lives. Hopefully I will touch their lives so that they will develop a more positive approach to life,” she said.
She said the NGO will also be giving food parcels, school shoes, stationery, school bags and hygiene packs to children at the different schools in the Joburg east area.
Benjamen thanked the women who made the day possible.
“I am very happy with the turnout. More children and homeless people will be getting something for Christmas,” she said.
