Rand Tutorial College held its valediction mass for the class of 2017 at Liberal Catholic Church in Observatory on October 20.

Liberal Catholic Church is one of the oldest churches in the area.
The church is over one hundred years old and the ceremony was led by Bishop Boudewijn Goudriaan who shared a brief history of the church.
He spoke about the journey ahead of the matric learners and inspired them to learn from it.

“Twelve years of schooling have culminated in this moment. As you prepare for your exams we wish you all the best. Remember that this is not the end of your life but the beginning of a new journey.
“There will be challenges on the way but remember to learn from them and try again. You will be entering the journey of ‘free thinking’. You will have to make decisions for yourself and they may not always be the right ones for you. Make every failure a second chance to do better,” said Goudriaan.
The head girl, Noluthando Ndlovu, gave a word of encouragement to her fellow matrics and wished them well for their exams.
Rand Tutorial headmaster, David Rossouw, treated the matrics to a musical item to wish them well for their exams.
“They have done the work and as educators, we have given them wings and now it’s time to fly,” said Rossouw.
Goudriaan said it was always an honour for the church to host the school’s valediction mass.
“As a church, we are here for the community and the school is part of the community,” said Goudriaan.
