No injuries reported after hijacking

“Motorists must be aware of their surroundings,”

Bedfordview SAPS are still searching for three suspects following a hijacking in Bedfordview on October 1.

SAPS spokesperson, Capt Andre de Jager, said a woman was hijacked at a boom gate along Talisman Avenue.

He said the suspects used rifles during the hijacking and made off with the woman’s white Jetta.

“When the woman stopped at the boom gate the suspects who were following her, exited their car and approached her.

“They were caught on CCTV footage as they forcefully removed her from her car.”

De Jager said two shots were fired at a security guard but no injuries were reported. The assailants were travelling in a grey Audi.

De Jager urged motorists to be vigilant when driving into a driveway.

“Motorists must be aware of their surroundings and make sure no one has followed them,” said de Jager.

He said if motorists feel unsafe they should not go home but rather drive to the nearest police.

“Motorists can also contact a security company for assistance,” said de Jager.
