The Rand Aid retirement village is known for the excellence of its annual fund-raiser which spreads out over green lawns, under shady trees and in the hall.

The event attracts quality stalls and a steady stream of visitors.

This year’s event was no different, with 40 outside stalls selling hand-crafted wares.

The village food stalls provided hamburgers, boerewors, tea and cake, pancakes, egg and bacon rolls, curry and rice and delicious German delicacies.

A marimba display by learners from Holy Rosary School in Edenvale brought smiles to the faces of visitors and stall-holders alike.

“The residents worked very hard and without them the day would not have been so successful. The proceeds of the day are utilised for projects in the village,” said deputy complex manager Jackie Scott.

Jenny Brownson happily manned the garden stall.
