Mathebula now leads Edenvale Community Police Forum

“The CPF has not been dissolved. We have faced many challenges and we are working through them."

After months of uncertainty Prince Mathebula was announced chairperson of Edenvale CPF at the September ECPF meeting.

Sheryl Damerell, the now ECPF vice chairperson, said Mathebula became the chairman after Linda McKenzie resigned.

Damerell, who spoke on Mathebula’s behalf, also introduced the new executive members.

They are Clive Dawes, Michael Anderson, Grant Rebello, Mike Bell, Oliver Manickum and Rita Johnson.

At the meeting Dawes was nominated and then voted in by a show of hands by the public.

Damerell said the other five members; Anderson, Rebello, Bell, Manickum and Johnson were “co-opted as executives for their involvement in the ECPF”.

She said they are on a three month probation period after which community members will vote on who will represent them on the ECPF.

“The CPF has not been dissolved. We have faced many challenges and we are working through them,” said Damerell.

The next ECPF meeting will be held on October 25.
