Village Toastmasters welcome the start of spring

Village Toastmasters welcomed the start of Spring at their recent meeting with the theme of All Things Bright and Beautiful.

Village Toastmasters welcomed the start of spring at their recent meeting with the theme of All Things Bright and Beautiful.

Members were also encouraged to bring along a guest to the meeting to introduce them to the benefits of Toastmasters.

The meeting was a full one with the impromptu speakers taking part in a lucky dip and having to speak about the article they selected from the bag.

David Preece was voted as the best Impromptu speaker for the evening.

The prepared speeches ranged from the second speech in the Competent Communicator manual through to an advanced speech.

All the speeches were of a high calibre. David Cairns, a visiting Toastmaster from Centurion Toastmasters entertained the audience with his speech. He was voted as the Best Prepared Speaker for the evening.

Kira Sparrow was voted as the Best Evaluator for the evening.

During the course of the meeting the president, Laurence Newman, announced the appointment of three mentors for the members. They are Jonathan Silverberg, David Preece and Viviane Rozanski. The mentors will assist the members with their speeches and goals.

Village Toastmasters meets the third Tuesday of every month at Trinity Presbyterian Church, corner St David and Koster Roads, Elma Park.
