The City of Ekurhuleni has dispelled messages referring to employment opportunities in the city as a hoax.

The messages, sent on Whatsapp, referred to a recruitment process for the city’s Keep Ekurhuleni Clean programme.

“The city has not invited applicants nor started the process of recruitment for the programme,” said Themba Gadebe, spokesperson of the city.

He said internal administration processes must first be concluded.

The city will make an announcement and invite the public to submit applications.

Gadebe urged community members and councillors to report people involved in the illegal “recruitment process”.
