Well known and active Edenvale resident, Sharon Lendrum-Frittelli, lost her battle against cancer on September 16 – a day before her 61st birthday.

Sharon was an active member of Friends of Horwood’s Farm and Poster Busters.

She was diagnosed with cancer in November last year.

Sharon was dedicated to helping in the upliftment of Horwood’s Farm, cleaning up Edenvale with the removal of illegal posters and helping the community in general.

Her friend, ward 18 Clr Heather Hart, described Sharon as a determined, passionate, helpful and talented woman.

“Sharon always tackled a problem head-on. Nothing was too much for her. She would often help other people before even thinking of herself. She was just an incredible member of the community and someone who you could rely on. She was a fantastic friend,” said Hart.

Friends, Heather Hart and Sharon Lendrum-Frittelli, during one of many clean-ups at Horwood’s Farm in 2015.

Hart said Sharon could be found at the Horwood’s Farm regularly, picking up litter and deweeding paths.

One of her favourite memories of Sharon was when the pair and other community members cleaned the homestead and Sharon got covered in blackjacks.

“She was covered in blackjacks from head to toe. All of us at the clean-up had to stop and take them off her,” said Hart.

They met in 2006 while serving on the same ward committee and their friendship grew from there.

Sharon was one of the people to encourage Hart to stand for ward councillor in the municipal elections.

Sharon decided to slow things down at the start of 2016.

Heather Hart, remembers her friend Sharon Lendrum-Frittelli as a person dedicated to cleaning up Horwood’s Farm.

Hart said for the past year-and-a-half Sharon battled with Lupus and later cancer.

“In 2016 Sharon suffered from Lupus and it drained her and was painful. She took a backseat. When she was diagnosed with cancer in November she decided to give up the reins of Friends of Horwood’s Farm and Poster Busters entirely,” said Hart.

“She focused on herself and her health. She was determined to beat cancer. She was incredibly positive. I am going to miss her,” said Hart.

Apart from her involvement in these community groups, Sharon also enjoyed embroidery and gardening.

“I don’t know where she got the time,” said Hart.

With the death of Sharon, Hart expressed concern for the future of the park.

“I don’t want all of Sharon’s hard work to be lost. I hope she’s watching over us from above,” said Hart.
