“People are hijacked while sitting inside their cars parked on the streets at night. We appeal to motorists to avoid this. Motorists must also be observant at the traffic lights. If they suspect that they are being followed, they must not go home. Go to the nearest police station,” he said.

He said criminals are also targeting cars parked on the streets at events.

“Criminals are aware that cars are fitted with alarms and they will fiddle with the car so that the alarm is activated. When the owners go outside to check, the criminals will hijack them,” he said.

Munyai also warned against opening false cases.

“Mostly it is to claim for insurance. These people will be charged with perjury. They will be arrested and prosecuted,” said Munyai.

He said they are issuing a warning to domestic workers or employees who are working with the criminals.
