Heritage Day stands for home, heart and happiness in Jumpas

JUMPAS – Community members organised a programme of entertainment, which included traditional singing and dancing.

Residents from Jumpas informal settlement celebrated Heritage Month this weekend.

Residents were asked to take and share a dish representative of their culture to the celebrations.

Residents celebrate their heritage at Jumpas.

They also had to wear traditional clothes or any item symbolic of their heritage.

Community members organised a programme of entertainment, which included traditional singing and dancing.

Ngcebo Ngubane was the programme director for the day.

“Heritage reminds us of where we come from. It is important to celebrate our heritage. It is the only way to teach the younger generations about where we come from,” said resident, Alfred Mkhize.

Residents were entertained by traditional dances.
