Missing for 17 years, but not forgotten

Her family appealed to all South Africans to help find her.

A family is clinging on to renewed hope of finding their loved one who has been missing for over 17 years.

A missing person’s docket has now been re-opened at the Benoni police station to investigate the disappearance of Desiree “Dessie” Reid who went missing from Boksburg on January 27, 2000.

Her family appealed to all South Africans to help find her.

Dessie was 20 years old at the time of her disappearance. The South African Community Crime Watch has been instrumental in the ‘cold case’ being re-opened.

The non-profit organisation will create awareness of the disappearance and investigate the case alongside the police.

Wendy Pascoe of the South African Community Crime Watch will do the investigation.

She said Interpol will be notified and they will investigate the possibility of Reid being a victim of human trafficking.

She will also interview people of interest who were close to Reid.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact Pascoe on 064 648 1577.
