St Benedict’s College recently hosted the South African Solo Drumming Championships 2017 at its school grounds.
The championship held on September 16 saw pipe bands from across the country participate.
Over 10 pipe bands were at the event with some from as far as Knysna.
Winners of each category were as follows:
• Snare: Open March, Strathspey and Reel – Theo van Wyk from Benoni MacTalla.
• Snare : Novice March, Strathspey and Reel – Tabile Morolong from Cornwall Hill.
• Snare : Novice March – Tabile Morolong from Cornwall Hill.
• Drum : Pad – Phoenix Potgieter from Benoni.
• Tenor : Open March, Strathspey and Reel – Keegan Rohland from Benoni.
• Tenor : Junior March, Strathspey and Reel – Keegan Rohland from Benoni.
• Tenor : Novice March 1st – Masingita Mkhawane from KES.
• Bass : Open March, Strathspey and Reel – Chad Naude from Transvaal Scottish.
• Bass : Junior March, Strathspey and Reel – Stefan de Jager from Cornwall Hill.
• Open Drum Salute – Transvaal Scottish.
