Lots of laughs at Village Toastmasters

Village Toastmasters meets the third Tuesday of every month at Trinity Presbyterian Church, corner St David and Koster Roads, Elma Park

It was laughter, fun and games for the Village Toastmasters during the Impromptu and Humorous competitions that were recently held.

The Impromptu competition was hotly contested by six of the members, who had to speak on a phrase given to them seconds before by the contest chairman.

All six speakers gave the audience their own interpretation of the given phrase.

Terry Weinstein, Village Toastmasters’ newest member, was awarded first place, with Viviane Rozanski being placed second and Jayson Naicker coming in third place.

In the Humorous competition, John Karle and Jonathan Silverberg went head to head.

Karle entertained the audience with a day in the life of his family, while Silverberg spoke about having an afternoon nap at work to increase productivity.

Silverberg was declared the winner of the Humorous competition. The two winners will go forward to the Area I4 competition.
