Selling ice-cream cool way to earn a living
MALVERN - “I am able to pay rent with the profit I make from my business."
Malvern resident Given Labapa puts food on the table by selling ice-cream in Malvern, Kensington and at Gillooly’s Farm.
He said he started his business two years ago.
“I am able to pay rent with the profit I make from my business.
“It is a challenge – especially during winter because most people do not buy ice-cream in cold weather but I manage to improve on sales during summer,” he said.
Given uses his bicycle as a mode of transport.
“I looked for a job when I first arrived in Johannesburg but I didn’t get any. I wish to get a better job one day but for now I am happy selling ice-cream,” he said.
