Rotary Family Health Days to take place

This annual campaign will be rolled-out simultaneously at 120 sites countrywide for three days from October 3 to October 5.

The Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, has invited members of the public to attend the Rotary Family Health Days.

The campaign aims to bring integrated health services closer to the communities as part of the department’s accelerated health programme.

This annual campaign will be rolled-out simultaneously at 120 sites countrywide for three days from October 3 to October 5.

The campaign gives momentum to the department’s efforts to ensure integrated mass health screenings in a bid to promote healthy lifestyles.

Members of the communities attending these events will receive free health services including the following:

• HIV testing and counselling.

• TB screening and testing.

• Diabetes screening.

• Hypertension screening.

• Provision of contraceptives.

• Immunisations.

• Hepatitis screening and more.

Some of these 120 sites will also offer drug and substance abuse counselling, information on SheConquers, a campaign for adolescent girls and young women, measles inoculation, polio drops, voluntary male circumcision services and healthy lifestyle education.

Additional services will include optometry, dentistry, mental health and more.

The campaign takes place in partnership with the Rotarians for Family Health and Aids Prevention (RFHA), Rotarians in South Africa, PEPFAR, SABC Foundation, Caxton, Phila, Gilead Sciences, Alere, YFM, Cape Community Newspapers, University of Johannesburg, Gift of the Givers, Sesego Cares, Paprika and the NCRF.
