Over R21k raised for Edenvale and other animal charities

On July 29 Charlie’s charity market, organised by the Tails and Whiskers charity shop in Edenvale raised R21 941.

The amount was raised by 10 different charities at the Boksburg market.

The charities were:

• Cat village.

• Happy Yappers.

• Hellen White.

• Brainy Birds.

• Pekingese Haven.

• Boxer Rescue.

• Nordic Rescue.

• The 9th Day Rescue.

• Ridgeback Rehab and Tails and Whiskers charity shop.

Sharon Blackwell of Tails and Whiskers said fun was had by all on the day.

“Charlie [the shop’s previous pet] definitely was watching over the charities,” said Sharon.

Charlie died of cancer last year.

The shop’s new mascot, Oliver the Boxer, made a short guest appearance to show his support for all the charities.

Sharon said while there Oliver fell in love with volunteers from Boxer Rescue.
