Three suspects nabbed for dealing in drugs

JOBURG – Three suspects are expected to appear in court for dealing in drugs.

Members of the provincial task team arrested three suspects for possession and dealing in drugs at a Bedfordview property on July 19.

This comes after police received a tip-off about a suspect at John Page Drive and Main Street in Jeppestown, who was allegedly trafficking drugs and supplying to his runners.

According to Jeppe SAPS spokesperson Captain Richard Munyai, police proceeded to the Jeppestown address at the corner of Commissioner and Nugget streets in Johannesburg central. There they spotted a vehicle that fitted the description given to the police.

“The police monitored the car. A man entered the car and drove to Goud and Albertina Sisulu streets, where he picked up a woman. The suspect then dropped her off at Von Brandis Street,” said Munyai.

Munyai said the police stopped the car and searched it.

“They found a plastic bag with white powder suspected to be heroin. The suspect was asked about the bag but he did not respond. Police escorted him to his residential address. Upon searching him, they found three plastic bags containing a brown substance suspected to be drugs,” he said.

The police questioned the security guard at this residential address and the guard confirmed that the suspect has another house in Bedfordview.

“Police proceeded to his house in Bedfordview and found two more suspects inside the house. Ten plastic bags containing dagga and money were found,” he said.

The three suspects were arrested and taken to Jeppe SAPS, where they were charged and detained.
