Pam Vermont quiz this week

The Modderfontein Conservation Society’s Pam Vermont Memorial Quiz returns with the welcome addition of pancakes and hot chocolate to keep the winter chill at bay.

The annual quiz is one of the Society’s highlights of the year and takes place in the Modderfontein Town Hall on July 21, starting at 7.30pm.

Now in its 15th year, the quiz remembers Pam Vermont who died in August 2013.

Vermont and husband Robbie had organised the quiz from its inception. It was previously known as Pam’s Quiz. Robbie continues to run the quiz in her memory.

He looks forward to having a good turnout of members and friends joining in this fun evening.

“The quiz has a general interest theme,” said Robbie.

“The questions cover a wide variety of subjects from science and current affairs to nature and geography. They are mostly easy, but some are more testing so that a winner will emerge,” he said.

There will be 100 questions to be answered by teams of five. Bring a team or simply join up with other like-minded folks for a fun evening.

“Lively debate and discussion is expected as the answers to the questions are revealed,” said Robbie. He reminded people to bring pens, pencils and, perhaps, some scrap paper.

Visitors are welcome.

There is a nominal R30 charge at the door to help cover expenses.
