Sounds of Jozi raising funds to help others

KENSINGTON – using talent to help others.

Sounds of Jozi will be hosting a Masakhane fundraising event for Agang Sechaba and Collect a book campaign.

The Masakhane show is an initiative aimed at bettering the lives of children and the youth. “As Sounds of Jozi, we are young people who face the same struggles every day and we understand how difficult life can get for a young unemployed person. We chose these two organisations because they focus on children and the youth and that inspired us to raise money for them using our talents,” explained Sibusiso Mtshali from the choir based in Kensington.

Agang Sechaba is a non-profit organisation founded in 2008 and they focus on helping child-headed families by helping them get through varsity.

Collect a Book campaign focuses on children by giving them books to read in areas where there are no libraries. The Masakhane fundraising show will take place on 8 July at Newtown Music Factory (Old Bassline) from 8pm to 10pm. Acts like Amarayonni, Thee Legacy, Brenda Mtambo, Africappella and Ihashi Elimhlophe will be entertaining the audience.

The show promises to be a journey through time combining the past and present through music. The theme is The youth and Jozi, showing the good and bad sides of living in Johannesburg.
