Lend a hand on Mandela Day at Little Eden

Some of the items urgently needed by the residents include adult sweatshirts and tracksuit pants.

Little Eden Society invites community members to spend their 67 minutes of service for Mandela Day by giving to the society on July 18.

Nichollette Muthige from Little Eden said community members can help physically or financially to commemorate the day.

She said anyone can help on the day between 9am and 3pm.

“Those who are far or are unable to give of their time have an opportunity to be part of Mandela Day by giving a financial gift of R67 or R670 and, even better, R6 700 – which represents R1 or R10 or R100 for every year Madiba spent making the world a better place,” said Muthige.

She said individuals who wish to bring a gift for Little Eden residents on the day are welcome to do so.

Some of the items urgently needed by the residents include adult sweatshirts and tracksuit pants and items for the second-hand shop, including furniture and clothing.

Hot dogs, hot beverages, rusks and popcorn will be on sale on the day.

“Visitors are encouraged to warm up with the warm food,” said Muthige.

On the day visitors will have the opportunity to write a congratulatory message to Little Eden to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
