43 suspects nabbed in one week for crimes ranging from assault, theft and robbery

Yeoville police arrested 43 suspects between 5 and 12 June.

The suspects were arrested for committing crimes ranging from assault, theft and robbery. The suspects were arrested for the following:

• 1 for rape
• 4 for common robbery
• 5 for robbery and possession of firearm
• 1 for robbery with a weapon other than a firearm
• 1 for assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
• 1 for common assault
• 13 for driving under the influence of liquor or drugs
• 3 for shoplifting
• 1 for possession of dagga
• 3 for malicious damage to property
• 1 for theft under false pretences
• 3 for possession of suspected stolen property
• 6 for theft.

“The suspects have appeared in different courts and some have paid their fines while others are out on bail and others remain in prison,” said spokesperson for Yeoville Police Station, Captain Sifiso Mabizela.
