A call for donations to Child Welfare

Beanies, scarves, gloves, and soup ingredients are all welcome.

Bedfordview journalist, reporter Tumelo Mthethwa, calls on readers to open their hearts and their pockets and donate towards a beanie, scarf, glove and soup drive during the month of June.

“Make them warmer, make them happier” is the theme for the charity drive.

All donations will be handed over to the children at the Tembisa Child Welfare on Saturday, July 1.

Beanies, scarves, gloves, and soup ingredients are all welcome.

The drive is organised under the Mentor Empower and Love Others (MELO) Foundation, founded by Mthethwa, as well as the Kya.Ithata.Org founded by Lerato Machaba.

“Everyone is welcome to join us on July 1 when we hand over the warm goodies to the children, make them soup and spend the day spreading love,” said Mthethwa.

“All donations will be greatly appreciated,” she said.

The Tembisa Child Welfare, based in Tembisa at 157 Milky Way Street, was founded in 1986 and is home to around 80 children and youth, from newborns to 21 years.
