The Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court sentenced Mdlalose Erick Thokogane to 10 years’ imprisonment for assault with the intent to commit grievous bodily harm and attempted murder on 17 May.
He was arrested on Main Reef Road in Denver on 3 May.
According to the spokesperson for Cleveland Police Station, Captain Johan Jordaan, Thokogane attacked and poured acid over his ex-girlfriend’s body while she was waiting for a taxi. “The victim was seriously injured and taken to Johannesburg Hospital. A case of assault with the intent to commit grievous bodily harm and attempted murder was opened and investigated at Cleveland Police station,” Jordaan said.
