15 years behind bars for armed robbery and possession of unlicensed firearm

Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court sentenced Grey Kacjingwe to 15 years behind bars on 31 May.

Kacjingwe was arrested on 16 August last year for possession of an unlicensed firearm, which was linked to five cases of armed robbery, on the M2 highway [Cleveland Bridge].

According to the spokesperson for Cleveland Police Station, Captain Johan Jordaan, the convict was arrested during observations by Cleveland officials. “He had a silver pistol in his possession that he was using during robberies. Kacjingwe is from Malawi and did not have the necessary documents to be in this country,” said Jordaan.
