Six nabbed for alleged hijacking at a petrol station – Sebenza SAPS

A motorist was hijacked while he was filling up his car at the petrol station.

Six men were arrested after allegedly hijacking a motorist at a petrol station in Spartan earlier this month.

The Sebenza SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Sharon Tsotsotso, said the motorist was hijacked by two armed men while he was filling up his car at the petrol station.

Tsotsotso said, around 1am on May 4, two of the men went to the ATM and pretended to be withdrawing money while two others went into the convenience store.

“When they were inside the store, one of them took out a gun and robbed the customers. The victim said two armed men approached him as he was filling up and they took his car keys and his cellular phone and drove off. The other men went into the Quantum they were travelling in and drove behind the stolen vehicle,” said Tsotsotso.

The security footage of the garage helped the police see how many men were inside the Quantum.

“When the police viewed the footage, it showed that there were more men in the vehicle. An investigation was conducted and the police managed to track them down. They were arrested by the K9 Unit and the Trio Task team in Phomolong, and some in Ivory Park,” said Tsotsotso.
