Learners enjoy thanksgiving event

This is an occasion where the entire school gathers in an act of thanksgiving.

St Andrew’s School for Girls celebrated its annual Harvest Festival and Africa Day on May 22.

This is an occasion where the entire school gathers in an act of thanksgiving.

They acknowledge that the earth is not theirs alone and that all its gifts are given as a blessing.

The opportunity is used to bring thanksgiving offerings of perishable foods such as oranges, potatoes, pumpkin and squash, as well as non-perishable items which include rice, tins and other packets of food.

The collection is donated to Meals on Wheels, which has a number of feeding schemes and aftercare programmes for school-aged children and in feeding the elderly and ill people at home.

The girls enjoy dressing up in their traditional clothing, or outfits that are of significance to their heritage.
