Sewer pipe repair underway

JOHANNESBURG – Councillor is pleased with the long-awaited sewer pipe project.

Ward 66 councillor, Carlos Da Rocha is pleased to announce the long-awaited sewer pipe repair project, which will be taking place in certain parts of the ward.

“This project will focus on replacing damaged or broken pipes across the area where needed. Unfortunately, we will experience excavations all over the place but in some places, there will be trenchless work done,” he explained.

Da Rocha added that this project should have begun last year but the budget had to be acquired. The project will run for a few months and the councillor said it will commence as soon as possible. He advised that the project requires a community liaison officer.

Da Rocha elaborated and said, “The liaison officer will be responsible for recruiting labour personnel from the ward to work on the project. The officer will also be responsible for communicating with residents should a problem arise that could affect them. I’m extremely excited about this project as the area is in need of these repairs and it will make a difference in the area.”

All residents are welcome to apply and applicants need to reside in Ward 66. Those interested in applying should proceed to 80 Loveday Street, 4th Floor, CJ Cronje Building and ask for Diane. Deadline for applications is 26 May.
