Greenstone Shopping Centre continues to give back, this time with the help of photos with Santa who donates a portion of the proceeds annually collected over the festive season.

The funds were donated to three worthy organisations to help those in need.

Charmain Qofela, the communications manager for Greenstone Shopping Centre, said sanitary towels were purchased from Dis-Chem and donated to Imbumba Foundation towards the Caring for Girls initiative.

“The foundation nominated Ekukhanyisweni Primary School in Alexandra where 142 girls from Grade 6 and Grade 7 will be supported for a year with the help of the combined donation from other organisations,” said Sibongile Khulu, from the organisation.

Non-perishable foods were purchased from Pick n Pay and donated to Meals on Wheels, an organisation that prepares and delivers meals to struggling elders at their homes. Zakhele Kunene, from the organisation, said that donations make a difference in the lives of those who are underprivileged, neglected, abused, aged and forgotten.

“The groceries will go a long way in helping those who need them,” he said.

Qofela said puppy and kitten food was purchased from Absolute Pets and donated to the Kempton Park SPCA after a request that they were running out of stock.

Kira Spencer confirmed that the donation came at a time when they really needed it.

“The choice to give is so rewarding and the centre being a part of such a close knit community will continue to try and make a difference where possible,” said Qofela.
