Little Eden clarifies its position on Life Esidimeni issue

Little Eden CEO, Mrs Lucy Slaviero, confirmed that none of the patients from Life Esidimeni were placed by the government at Little Eden.

Due to the recent incorrect information recorded in the national media, Little Eden Society wishes to clarify its position concerning Life Esidimeni.

Little Eden CEO, Mrs Lucy Slaviero, said none of the patients from Life Esidimeni were placed by the government at Little Eden.

Slaviero said a female with profound intellectual disability who had been previously accommodated at Life Esidimeni Care Centre was placed at Little Eden by the woman’s family.

The woman was admitted to Little Eden on May 30.

Public relations and communications officer of Little Eden, Nichollette Muthige, said since the admission of the woman in 2016, Little Eden has not received requests or instructions from the family or the government to release the resident based on questions around the standard of care provided by Little Eden.
