JUST IN: ADT guard and unidentified man murdered in Denver

JOBURG – Cleveland police are appealing to the public to help them with information in a double murder investigation.

Cleveland police are investigating a case of double murder after two people were found dead on Main Reef Road in Denver on 12 May.

According to the station’s spokesperson Captain Johan Jordaan, police received a call from the ADT security company informing them of a double murder.

“Police proceeded to the given address and found the horrific murder scene. Two males were shot and killed inside an ADT Patrol vehicle,” said Jordaan.

Jordaan said upon investigation, police officials found that the driver of the vehicle was an on-duty security guard from ADT. “The passenger is an unknown male who was not supposed to be in the vehicle,” he said. Jordaan added that both were shot several times in the head and upper body.

“The security guard’s firearm, as well as the ADT tablet, was missing,” said Jordaan.

A case of murder is being investigated and Fidelity ADT and police are appealing to the public for information.

Fidelity ADT managing executive Stuart Clarkson said,  “We are deeply saddened by the tragic murder of one of their reaction officers and another unidentified man in Denver early this morning.

Clarkson explained that the two men were shot and killed in a Fidelity ADT patrol vehicle.  Valuables from the vehicle, including a firearm, tablet and cellphone had been stolen.

At this stage there are no leads and Fidelity ADT is working closely with the Cleveland police.

Clarkson said, “Our sincere condolences go out to the families of both victims. Our Reaction Officer was only 34-years-old and had worked at ADT for the last nine years.  It is a sad day for all of us today and we would appreciate any leads.”
