Wedge Gardens egg hunt

“The Wedge Gardens residents thoroughly enjoyed the hunt. There was a lot of laughter and enjoyment throughout the afternoon as the men participated in an activity that brought back reminders of fun, carefree days,”

Easter provided for some sweet experiences at Rand Aid’s Wedge Gardens treatment centre.

The occupational therapy department hosted its Wedge Café and sold delicious sweet treats in the form of vanilla chick cookies and rice crispy treats.

Not only was the baking and selling of the goods a welcome break from the typical routine of Wedge Gardens, but it also provided the gentlemen with the opportunity to learn new skills in terms of business management, as well as possible hobby ideas.

The café initiative helps Wedge Garden residents develop an understanding of healthy leisure pursuits as well as productive time use patterns.

After the café had closed, residents undergoing in-house rehabilitation at Wedge Gardens could enjoy a traditional Easter egg hunt.

The Easter eggs were donated by Inyoni Creek residents and their family members.

“The Wedge Gardens residents thoroughly enjoyed the hunt. There was a lot of laughter and enjoyment throughout the afternoon as the men participated in an activity that brought back reminders of fun, carefree days,” said occupational therapist Kendra Neethling.
