Bylaws, headache for councillor

JOBURG – Ward councillor is concerned about residents who disregard the bylaws and is taking action.

Ward 118 councillor Neuren Pietersen is concerned about residents who do not obey bylaws in his ward.

“Bylaws have been regarded as non-enforceable. Going forward residents and business owners are going to see a more proactive Metro police department enforcing the bylaws in my ward,” said Pietersen.

Pietersen said he is certain that most of the citizens would welcome a return to basic law and order in his ward. “There will be those that feel they are being unfairly targeted as they are subjected to unexpected visits from our Metro police officers. They can be assured that the law will be applied without fear, favour or prejudice. If your neighbour is getting away with it today, they will not tomorrow,” said Pietersen.

Pietersen encouraged residents and business owners to acquaint themselves with the bylaws to assist in this new way of enforcing bylaws by visiting the City of Joburg website.
