Edenvale Round Table takes residents of Bienvenu Shelter to the zoo

JOBURG – The children were over the moon when they saw the lions and elephants.

The Edenvale Round Table charity organisation took children and adults of the Bienvenu Shelter to the Johannesburg Zoo.

The organisation’s chairperson David Costine said a bus collected the children and women of the shelter. “There was much excitement on the bus as some of the children had never been to the zoo before,” said Costine. “Once they arrived at the zoo, each person was given a snack pack to keep them from getting hungry and thirsty before lunch.”

He said the children were over the moon when they saw the lions and elephants. “Everyone was treated to either chicken strips or hamburgers and some cold drinks during lunch. Then all the children got to go on some of the rides that are available at the zoo, including the Ferris wheel.”

Costine said everyone was tired after the day out. “It was a quiet trip back with most of the children fast asleep after a really eventful day.”
