SAPS urges motorists to exercise caution when drinking

"It is not only your life you put in danger when you drive a car intoxicated,"

Between April 3 and 10 the Edenvale SAPS made a total of 22 arrests.

A variety of offences contributed to the arrests, including business burglary, common robbery, fraud, shoplifting, drug-related activities, shoplifting and drunk driving.

The biggest contributor to the arrests was drunk driving, with 10 arrests.

Captain Jean Olckers, spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, said most of the crimes were reported in sectors one and two.

He said in recent weeks there has been an increase in violent crimes, such as residential robberies.

Olckers also urged motorists to be responsible when drinking.

“Make use of other means of transport if you have been drinking. It is not only your life you put in danger when you drive a car intoxicated. You endanger other motorists too,” said Olckers.
