Edenglen High School pays tribute to young learner who dies after pedestrian accident

"Even though he was only in grade eight he was already a popular learner."

“He was an active learner. He made such an impression on the school and the learners in the short time that he was here.”

These were the words of Edenglen High School deputy principal, Desi Naidoo, in a tribute to a grade 8 learner who died on April 20 following a pedestrian accident.

The learner died after he was struck by a motor vehicle in Klopperpark.

Naidoo said it is extremely sad and a pity that the learner lost his life.

“Even though he was only in grade eight he was already a popular learner,” said Naidoo.

She added that the learner always got involved in events.

Devon Nel, spokesperson for Medi Response, said after the learner had been stabilised on the scene, he was taken to Arwyp Hospital.

The learner died at the hospital.

Naidoo said the school would like to convey its condolences to the family.
