Local learner hopes to bring home international crown

"It was a dream come true.”

The title of Miss Teen South Africa International 2017 has been awarded to Daniella Ribeiro.

The Edenvale High School learner will compete in the Miss Teen International 2017/2018 event later this year in the US.

“It was the most amazing experience of my life when I heard from the director and organisers of Miss Teen South Africa International that I had been selected to represent South Africa. It was a dream come true,” said Ribeiro.

Ribeiro hopes to inspire young girls to have a positive self-image, confidence and a sense of social responsibility.

As part of her campaign, Ribeiro will be raising funds for Dignity Dreams, an NGO which manufactures washable sanitary ware for underprivileged girls.

“I want to help as many young girls as I can so they are able to make a positive difference in their own lives and communities,” said Ribeiro.

In October 2016, Ribeiro was chosen as the runner-up in the Miss Teen Social Entrepreneur SA 2017 programme.

She looks forward to using her skills, knowledge and experience to bring home the crown.

Ribeiro is set to compete in the pageant in August this year.
