The Cleveland Community Police Forum (CPF), in partnership with the Cleveland South African Police Service, security agencies operating in Ward 118 and residents, marched against crime, drugs and alcohol from Marathon Street in Malvern to Cleveland Police Station.
Chairman of the forum, Godfrey Mothibe handed over the memorandum to the station commander, Colonel Bongani Dlamini.
The march was to fight:
- Crime against women and child abuse, rape and domestic violence
- Hijackings of motor vehicles
- House and business robberies and burglaries
- Drugs, alcohol, marijuana, and nyaope abuse
- Bribery and human trafficking
- Early pregnancy and school dropouts
- Dumping on streets, public parks and at public facilities
- Window washing at busy streets and intersections
- Xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals and looting of their properties.
