JOBURG – Members of the society [Which society are you referring to?] attended a meeting.

The recent Malvern Sector 3 community meeting was well attended by concerned citizens.

Ward 118 councillor Neuren Pietersen chaired the meeting that was held in Pandora Street and introduced members of the Metro police, City Power representatives and acknowledged the presence of Jack Bloom, DA Shadow Minister of Health.

The purpose of the meeting was to address infrastructure issues in the Kensington and Malvern areas. Pietersen said electricity tripping in Persimmon Street is still happening. “The tripping of electricity is still problematic and it will be resolved,” said Pietersen.

“An amount of R70 million has been budgeted for upgrades of general infrastructure due to old infrastructure being unable to cope with the high usage in the area, and the area not being upgraded for more than two decades,” said Pietersen. He also assured residents that there will be a new budget after June that will address the most urgent repairs required.

The community was urged to report cable theft and all crimes so that they can be arrested, as crime has a negative impact on many businesses in Jules Street. Illegal dumping was also discussed.
