UPDATE: 3 guilty of Rhodes Park murders

KENSINGTON – Three men found guilty of double murder and rape in Rhodes Park in the Johannesburg High Court.

It’s been 17 months since the Rhodes Park double murder that shocked the community of Kensington in 2015.

Justice has finally been served after three of the 12 men who were charged, were found guilty in the Johannesburg High Court on 28 March.

Thabo Nkala (25), Admore Ndlovu (23) and Mduduzi Mathibela Lawrence (32) were found guilty of robbery, two counts of rape and two counts of murder by Judge Papi Masopa.

The three men were allegedly part of a 12-man gang which attacked two couples who had gone to the park for a walk after church during the evening of 17 October 2015.

According to testimony in court, the couples were forced to lie on the ground and a knife was used to cut off both the women’s panties.

Their partners were told to undress and forced into the lake where they were drowned by the suspects. The gang also stole their clothes, jewellery and cellphones.
