Community members were asked if they knew of someone who had been intimidated by a police or metro police officer.
Mr Mahammed Iqbal said, "No I don't know of anyone who has felt intimidated by a police officer. I have worked in the Edenvale CBD for 17 years and have never had a problem. The best thing for people to do if they do feel they are being intimidated is to go to the nearest police station, address the problem and sort it out."
Community members were asked if they knew of someone who had been intimidated by a police or metro police officer and what advice they could give to help someone who finds themselves being intimidated by an officer.
Mr Scott McKnight said, “Yes, I do know of someone who was intimidated by a police officer. I suggest that people stay as calm as possible and do not get aggressive. People should stay composed, obey the officer’s instructions. I think people should take it further and escalate the matter only if the intimidation escalates to physical confrontation.”
Ms Pat Goulson said, “No, I don’t know anyone who has been intimidated by a police office. People need to be as polite as possible when speaking to a police officer. People must not backchat the officer and understand that the officer is only doing their job.”
