Betrams NGO, Hannahs Hope Foundation, pleads for donations and assistance

BERTRAMS – Hannah's Hope Foundation is pleading for donations.

Despite pleading for help numerous times, Hannahs Hope Foundation still needs more financial assistance and donations.

The non-governmental organisation was founded by Lorraine Benjamen after she was touched by the plight of refugee children.

“I was invited to visit the children at the community centre in Bertrams. Some are homeless while others are hungry. Those children broke my heart,” Benjamen said.

After visiting the homeless and refugee children, Benjamen started providing the little that she could for them. “I started cooking soup for them once a week. I also taught them about the word of God,” she added.

Hannahs Hope Foundation’s aim is to be a community leader in providing professional person-centred services to enhance the well-being of underprivileged persons. It also provides unique and specialised programmes which enrich lives by educating and inspiring the needy, homeless and those without an education to be in charge of their lives.

“The organisation cares about the communities who are living in poverty and those who are alone. We don’t view them as projects to help but view them as people to love and respect,” said Benjamen.

“The underprivileged people do not have enough food, clothing, education and healthcare. They are deprived economically, politically and socially. They have inadequate nutrition, high risk of diseases and lack of access to healthcare and employment.

“Drug addiction is so rife in these areas, we want to rehabilitate them and provide counselling for those who are living under these conditions.”

Hannahs Hope Foundation is in need of the following items:

  • School shoes, stationery, school bags and hygiene packs for children at the different schools in the area

Food

  • Clothing
  • Soap, toothpaste and body lotion.

“We will so much appreciate any donation,” said Benjamen
