The organisation assists job seekers find employment and hopes for greater support from local businesses and community members.

Ms Dipuo Tekawa, manager of the organisation, said Khanyisa registers 187 job seekers per month.

She said Khanyisa pre screens the job seekers, conducts a background check on them, does the short listing and sets up and facilitates interviews between job seekers and employers.

“Our aim is to find employment for genuine work seekers,” said Ms Tekawa.

The organisation helps domestic workers, painters, gardeners, drivers, office administrators, plumbers and casual labourers find employment.

Mr Evans, secretary of the organisation, said the word Khanyisa means spreading the light, which is what the organisation hopes to do for those in need.

“We offer the employment service, but also offer a soup kitchen to feed people’s bodies and an evangelist to feed their souls,” said Mr Evans.

Mr Evans said in the current economy, the number of employment opportunities has decreased.

He said he hopes the community of Edenvale will make use of this initiative and help those in need.
