Jeppe police find contraband at Jules High School during random search

JOHANNESBURG – Schoolchildren from Jules High School were searched during an operation by Jeppe officers.

Jeppe police officers recently raided Jules High School.

According to the spokesperson for Jeppe Police Station, Captain Richard Munyai, the school search was part of a series of random searches which Jeppe police officials do on an irregular basis.

“We go there unannounced, the teachers are not aware of the raids,” said Munyai. He said they visit schools with members from the K9 Dog Unit whose dogs assist in searching the classes in terms of nicotine.

“At Jules High School, we searched the classes that the school management identified as problematic as they believe the pupils are involved in bad behaviour such as smoking and gambling after school, not far from the school premises,” said Munyai.

He said they found packets of dagga, a box of Dunhill cigarettes and condoms thrown away in one of the classes. “There were three boys aged between 16 and 20 who were identified as possible culprits. They were taken outside and their names were taken by the principal who later called their parents to inform them. The boys were reprimanded and given a warning not to be found using or in possession of any illegal substance at the school,” concluded Munyai.
