Olympia to honour cancer survivors

The main match, which is between the Campania and Abruzzo teams, will kickoff at 12.30pm.

Come March 19, the Olympia Football Club will take a stand against cancer.

The club has revealed plans to host a soccer match on the day to raise funds for charities supporting cancer-stricken patients.

Mr Giuliano Loddo said the club will host the event annually.

“During the event we will honour cancer survivors and remember those who have lost their lives to cancer,” said Mr Loddo.

He said the inaugural event will be dedicated to one of the club’s players, Mr Paulo Biancolli, who lost his battle to the disease.

Other activities are scheduled to start at 10am and residents are invited to attend.

The main match, which is between the Campania and Abruzzo teams, will kickoff at 12.30pm.

“Unfortunately we cannot cure cancer. However, we can raise money for those who need help to fight. We are also pleading with anyone who can help, by either donating their time, money or prizes, to contact us. All prizes will be raffled on the day and all money collected will be handed over to the cancer charity on the day,” said Mr Loddo.

He said food and drink will be on sale on the day.

Mr Loddo can be contacted on 082 900 9812 for more details.
