22 suspects apprehended in 6 days

Yeoville police arrested 22 suspects from 30 January to 4 February.

They were arrested for committing crimes ranging from assault to murder and rape.

2 for murder (one with an additional charge of arson)

• 1 for rape
• 4 for common assault
• 4 for possession of drugs
• 1 for possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of stolen property
• 1 for pointing of a firearm
• 1 for possession of suspected stolen property
• 1 for theft out of a motor vehicle
• 2 for theft
• 1 for malicious damage to property
• 3 for shoplifting
• 1 for dealing in liquor.

“The accused have appeared in different courts and some have paid their fines, while others are out on bail and others remain in prison,” said Yeoville police spokesperson, Captain Sifiso Mabizela.
