Renowned Edenvale athlete, Mr Ken Poole (74), has spoken out after he was involved in a hit-and-run in Benoni on Saturday morning, February 11.

Since the incident, a social media manhunt was launched to find the driver of a black Toyota Yaris with a missing left hand side mirror.

On the day, the motorist is believed to have hit three cyclists, including Mr Poole, on the same stretch of road.

Mr Poole was in the peak of his training for participation in his 18th Ironman event, set to take place in eight weeks time.

“It was around 5.35am. The sun was just rising when I heard an almighty bang and then I hit the ground.

“As I looked up I saw a black car driving away, half in the yellow line,” Mr Poole told the NEWS.

Mr Poole broke his arm and suffered a severe injury to his leg, he underwent surgery later the same day and was discharged on Monday, last week.
