Edenvale Child Welfare needs help

"Community members don't realise the way in which their small donations help us. Every little bit helps the society"

Child Welfare SA – Edenvale chairperson Mr Pieter le Roux is appealing to the community of Edenvale to lend a hand to the society.

According to Mr Le Roux the society needs assistance with future projects, and the money which is received from government cannot cover all the expenses.

He said the funding received from government gets used on the utilities, food for the children and the salaries of social workers.

“We don’t get much funding from government,” he said.

He said as a result of the limited funding he has turned to the community for assistance.

Mr Le Roux first made an appeal on social media when the roof of the society needed some attention and repainting.

He said after appealing to community members, materials were donated and individuals from the town offered their assistance.

“The work done on the roof really looks nice but there is still a lot we need done at the society,” said Mr Le Roux.

Some of the projects which the society needs assistance with include:

  •  Carpeting/new floors for the rooms.
  •  New shade cloth for the carport.
  •  New phones for the social workers.

Mr Le Roux said getting more modern phones will allow for greater communication between the social workers.

He urged community members to donate their secondhand phones to the society.

“Community members don’t realise the way in which their small donations help us. Every little bit helps the society,” he said.
