Mixed results for Jeppe boys

KENSINGTON – Jeppe boys win some and lose some.

The Jeppe High School for Boys’ U14 water polo team made their mark in their first tournament of the season at Crawford College.

The team made it all the way through to the final where they lost to a very good St David’s team. Jeppe performed well in the group stages of the tournament, beating the hosts Crawford 3–2 in the quarterfinals and Grey College 14–7 in the semis.

Jeppe’s 1st water polo team played in a tournament at Affies in Pretoria and did very well, winning seven, drawing one and losing two of the 10 matches played.

The Jeppe rowers were also in action at the VLC National Sprint Champs at Germiston Lake. The 1st Four rowers were the winners of the Men’s A Four race, with a winning time that broke the course record by 12 seconds.

In cricket, the Jeppe U14A cricket team beat Affies from Pretoria by three wickets in a 50-over game. Jeppe bowled Affies out for just 79 runs with Jeppe reaching the target for the loss of seven wickets.

The Jeppe 1st cricket team also played against Affies. Jeppe was asked to bat first in difficult conditions and made 166/5. Affies reached the total with three wickets down.
